Impact/Purpose:
Adverse outcome pathways are a knowledge organization construct intended to help aid the use of mechanistic bioactivity data from new approach methodologies in chemical hazard assessment. The AOP-Wiki (aopwiki.org) has served as the internationally accessible and harmonized repository of scientific knowledge and evidence organized according to the adverse outcome pathway (AOP) framework. However, to both attract more contributors and increase the impact of the information assembled in the AOP-Wiki updates to the underlying data model and database are needed. This webinar helps to set the stage for a Society for Advancement of Adverse Outcome Pathways (SAAOP) workshop that will solicit additional input and ideas from the AOP community of practice to help guide and inform the development of the next major upgrade to the AOP-Wiki. Both this public webinar and the subsequent workshop provides an opportunity for potential AOP users from the states, tribes, program offices, and other organizations to provide input into the process and help shape product CSS.408.2.2.
Description:
Since 2014, the AOP-Wiki (aopwiki.org) has served as the internationally accessible and harmonized repository of scientific knowledge and evidence organized according to the adverse outcome pathway (AOP) framework. While the knowledgebase continues to grow steadily there remains a need for innovation to make collaborative AOP development easier for authors while also making the information more accessible and impactful for users. This webinar is the first of a three-part series, leading up to a SAAOP organized workshop, that aims to plot the future of the AOP-Wiki as tool to support the use of new approach methodologies in chemical safety assessment and other life sciences applications. This webinar will review some of the key stake-holder feedback and feature requests that have been received in recent years, and a present a vision for how the AOP-Wiki can be updated to address those requests.
